Drug overdose deaths are down 3.1% 107,543 people died of drug overdoses in 2023 down from 111,029 in 2022. Here in Connecticut, drug overdose deaths have been decreasing for the last two years (down 14% in 2023 from the 2021 high). Connecticut reached its 12-month rolling fatal overdose peak in November 2021. As of June 2024, overdoses are down 24.2%. This data comes from the CDC Vital Statistics web page that tracks overdoses in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. I compiled the list by reviwing each state’s charts. Stay tuned.
