Some states and programs also require EMT students to complete 24 to 48 hours of clinical time working in an emergency room and/or ambulance under the supervision of a certified EMT, paramedic, or registered nurse. Some ambulance agencies provide paramedic training in house. The CPR course typically takes 4 to 8 hours to complete.
