There is a 1:3 or 30% risk of recurrence of the febrile convulsions and occur within 2 years of the first episode. There is a very low risk of developing epilepsy following febrile convulsions (approximately 2% following simple seizures and 5% following complex seizures as compared to 1% in the general population).
