Since she was confused, she didn’t know where his paperwork was so the BLS agency that arrived began efforts for resuscitation. Each of the people on that BLS crew are career providers. When I first started out as an EMT, I came across this similar situation. It puts us at risk for injury, it stresses the mind and the soul.

We moved them onto the stretcher and brought them out to the ambulance so we could start CPR and using a BVM. This was what happened on my first call as an EMT. We can’t start CPR on the stairs! I remember as we were bringing the patient out to the ambulance to do CPR, the family was standing in the doorway.
