NVFC Celebrates 10th Anniversary Training Summit

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) marked the 10th anniversary of its signature conference, the NVFC Training Summit, on June 21-22 in Buffalo, NY. The sold-out event had the highest attendance yet, with over 200 attendees from 40 states and the District of Columbia. Attendees were able to choose from 18 sessions delivered by nationally-recognized subject matter experts in three tracks focusing on health and safety, recruitment and retention, and leadership.

Legislative Victory! AFG and SAFER Reauthorization Passes

In a victory for the fire and emergency services, the Senate passed the Fire Grants and Safety Act (S. 870). This bill reauthorizes the Assistance for Firefighters Grant (AFG) and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant programs as well as provides funding for the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA). The bill now goes to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law.
