The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions will hold a confirmation hearing for Secretary of Labor nominee Lori Chavez-DeRemer on February 19 starting at 10am ET. Emergency medical services (EMS) were called to the home of a 22-year-old woman after a syncopal episode and seizure-like activity. The patient reported consuming plant needles obtained online in a suicide attempt several hours prior. On EMS arrival, the patient was alert, pulse was fluctuating between 40 and 130 beats/min, and manual systolic blood pressure was 60 mmHg.

Only one in 246 patients who screen positive for an eating disorder at triage have a chief complaint suggesting it. The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, thanks to support from State Farm, will select 40 Built For Life Fire Departments to each receive a $750 stipend to conduct an outreach program during Home Fire Sprinkler Week, May 11-17. The stipends can be used to support a variety of Home Fire Sprinkler Week activities, although the educational benefits can extend beyond the actual event.

The NVFC Training Summit will take place June 20-21 in Salt Lake City with a focus on first responder health and safety, volunteer recruitment and retention, and emergency services leadership.
