The FDA this week approved extending the expiration date of all future manufactured Narcan (the 4mg Nasal spray) from 3 years to 4 years. In the case of naloxone, unlike say milk, the product doesn’t spoil and it retains its potency for many years. Yes, naloxone works for years after its expiration date.

Narcan was not given at the scene. The "good" news — Treatment with naloxone will probably resolve the bradycardia. The patient was a 20-something woman who was found poorly responsive with altered mental status in her car. Numerous needles from self-injection of opioids were found in the car.
